Artist Spotlight - Gus Harper

As you walk through the lobby of Cooper Design Space, you’ll notice the works of Gus Harper decorating the walls.

Gus is a Los Angeles based artist who has been exhibiting his paintings, murals, and street art around the world for over 20 years.  His recent body of work was inspired by travels to Chiang Mai, Thailand where he displayed over 30 paintings.  He has also exhibited his work and created murals in Nepal, Mexico, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Sri Lanka, India and Laos.

His recent show in West Los Angeles was called “Life on Earth” and was a reflection of mankind’s relationship to the Universe in light of having viewed images from the James Webb Telescope.  Imagery from that show can also be detected in the paintings at Cooper Design Space.

He describes his work as a celebration of our collective spiritual journeys.  Harper’s next projects include murals in Venice, Palms, and Santa Monica as well as upcoming shows in Thailand and West Los Angeles.

Gus maintains a studio at the Santa Monica airport. More of his work can be seen at @gusharperart and www.gusharperart.com.
