Bringing the Neighborhood Together, One Food Truck at a Time
At the Hirsh Collective, we’re always looking for ways to make the Fashion District feel less like a collection of buildings and more like a true neighborhood. That’s what sparked our food truck series, an ongoing effort to highlight some of Los Angeles’ best local vendors while creating moments for people to step outside, connect, and experience the energy of the community around them.
Our first event on March 7 featured CHX Sandwiches, parked just outside Trade Lofts at 719 South Los Angeles Street. While it was a quieter afternoon, it still delivered exactly what we hoped for: great food and a reason for people to gather. There’s something special about seeing residents, tenants, and neighbors pause their day, even briefly, to share a meal and a space. And the sandwiches definitely made it worth the stop.
Building on that, our most recent food truck brought a whole new level of excitement. On April 8th, we welcomed Mariscos Jalisco to the Cooper Building, one of LA’s most beloved food trucks and a true local staple. The response was immediate and exciting. With a steady crowd and a lively atmosphere throughout the afternoon, the day felt like a refreshing change of pace from the usual weekday. It was a reminder of how powerful food can be in bringing people together.
Looking ahead, we’re continuing that momentum. On May 9th, we’ll be hosting Afters Ice Cream alongside Unique Markets as they bring their pop-up market to the neighborhood, featuring 75 of the best emerging brands, designers, and artists. It’s another opportunity to come out, explore, and experience the creativity and energy that makes this community so special.
Overall, our food truck events have become more than just a lunch stop. They’re a way to get people out of their homes, away from their desks, and into the neighborhood, whether to try something new or revisit a favorite. Each event is another step toward building a more connected, vibrant community right here in the heart of the Fashion District.
